When I visited Hungary, I found that it was very easy to communicate in German.
In my impression, four fifths of people can understand German.
I think that it is a relic of “the Austria & Hungary Empire” whose main language was German.
Hungarian must think unconsciously, “The Empire was strongly supported by Hungarian”.
